Life science is not a new vocabulary; it is a term we came across in our education journey. Some courses were named “life science 101,” and some learning materials about life sciences.

Life science is a broad field of study that deals with the examination of every single living thing on the planet, from bacteria, and begonias, to beluga whales. The primary aim of life science is to find out everything regarding life on the earth.

Life science has had a more significant impact on the life of humanity. It is through life science that human life has been made simple and enjoyable. The world could be a worse place to be in without life science.

Advancement in technology has contributed highly to the growth of Life science—for example, the use of PHC freezers, microscopes, thermometers, Nucleic Acid Microarray, etc.

What is Life Science?

Life science can be described as the examination of living organisms and life processes. As the name suggests, life science examines life in all forms, present and past. The studied include animals, plants, bacteria, single-celled organisms, and viruses. Life science lets us know how these organisms live and interact in the ecosystem.

Life science aims to dig out new knowledge, which leads to a better understanding of the ecosystem.

Impacts of Life Science

Life science greatly impacts our general life from the time we wake up all through the rest of the day. If you disagree, let me remind you how science impacts our general lives. The digital alarm clock, the antibiotics you take, the bus you ride on, and the weather report you rely on are all because of life science.

There would be no modern world if there were no understanding and technology-enhanced by science. Below are ways through which life science impacts our lives.

Healthcare

In the 1700s, vaccination became efficient, discovered by Edward Jenner. Later, in the 1800s, doctors and researchers found that germs mainly cause diseases. The biologist discovered antibiotics. All these discoveries have come to the rescue of human life. Without life science, a big percentage of individuals alive today would have died.

Another example was the Covid-19 disease; when it erupted in 2020, many people lost their lives, but within a short time, its vaccine was founded, saving people from succumbing to the deadly virus.

Modern Farming

Through life science, the general agriculture industry is growing and transforming. Some years back, biologists researched coming up with high-yielding plant varieties of corn, rice, wheat, etc., which dramatically increased the yields during harvesting when planted with the new fertilizers and pesticides.

Due to such advancements, we have maximum food in our stores. We are making the world a safe place, a planet with minimal hunger cases.

Conclusion

Life science has improved the quality of life in many aspects, from our daily routines to global scenarios. We get to know agriculture, health, exploration, and transportation through life science. Life science is an important aspect of our lives that we cannot afford to ignore.
