Three Bean Salad
Ingredients
- 1 can french green beans
- 1 can wax yellow beans
- 1 can of kidney beans
- 1 onion – chopped
- ½ cup of green pepper
- ½ cup vinegar
- ½ cup salad oil
- ½ cup sugar
- Salt and pepper
Preparation
- In a colander, empty the cans of beans and allow them to drain and give them all a good rinse. Next pour all of the beans into a large bowl and set them aside. Add in the chopped onions with the beans. Salt and pepper and toss the beans and onions together in the bowl.
- In a separate bowl add the sugar, vinegar and salad oil and mix the three ingredients until the sugar begins to dissolve. Next pour the liquid mixture over the beans and onions and toss to make sure that every piece gets coated with the liquid.
- Do a taste test; salt and pepper if needed. Put the three bean salad into a container that you can turn over while it’s chilling in the refrigerator. Flipping the container makes sure that all of the ingredients get marinated in this sugar and vinaigrette sauce. You need to chill this three bean salad for at least 3 hours or overnight so that the salad marinades before you serve it.
Serving
Just before you are ready to serve your Thanksgiving meal, take the three bean salad out of the refrigerator and pour in a festive holiday bowl with two large spoons for easy serving.
