You know junk food is bad for you. That’s why it’s called ‘junk’. It’s full of fat, sugar, salt and calories. It’ll make you put on weight and become incredibly unhealthy. It’s linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Cut out or cut down junk food. You don’t need it, it’s bad for you, it’s ruining your health and your weight loss goals. Show your body some respect and treat it like a temple. Say no to junk.
Portion Size
Eat smaller portions. It’s that simple. You don’t need enormous amounts of food until you’re stuffed full. The simple way to reduce you portion size is to halve what you would normally eat. For example, if you have four slices of toast for breakfast – have two slices instead. You won’t starve to death and you’ll be well on your way to a healthier you.
Water is King
Drink water. Get through at least 1.5 liters a day, more when you’re exercising. Water is good for you and you know it. It helps fill you up too. No, it’s not as exciting as soft drink or juice, but it’s a whole lot better for you.
Eat Three Balanced Meals a Day
Eat three good meals a day. Don’t snack in between with museli bars, biscuits or any other processed food. If you must snack, eat one piece of fresh fruit in between meals. Your body will love you for it.
Exercise for Losing Weight
Exercise every day. No one says you have to like it. You just have to do it. Every day. Go for a walk or play a team sport. Join a gym or purchase some exercise videos. Cleaning the house, car or yard all counts as exercise. The point is you need to get your body moving. It’ll help you lose weight faster, make you sleep better and improve your overall health.
Slip Ups
Everyone has slips ups. The occasional burger, chocolate or chips won’t do you any harm but if you can’t stop at one, don’t keep them in the house. You’ll just be tempted. And if you do have a big slip up, by all means be disappointed in yourself. That’s how we learn. Then it’s time to move forward.
Losing weight isn’t rocket science. You don’t need a degree and you don’t need to spend large amounts of money. In fact you’ll probably save money by not eating junk and by eating fresh foods. To achieve real and sustainable weight loss you just need to think about what you eat and drink and how to exercise. You can do it and you know how to do it. You just need to put it into practice.
