Edward MatchettCreating a Logosphere:
A Sphere of Meaning

I first learned of Edward Matchett and the concept of a "logosphere" when I became exposed to the teachings of the Fourth Way. My interpretation of a "logosphere" is akin to creating a sanctuary in our lives, both personally and professionally.

It was in 1968 that Edward Matchett first recognized the fundamental 'equation' or key relationship that underlies all creation that Charles Darwin came very close to discovering: that both human and natural creativity obey the same law, the Fundamental Law of Evolution. This law governs the release of appropriate form and meaning in any context and is central to the basic philosophy of all the Matchett disciplines, namely: The Sophiagenic '5M' discipline FDM (Fundamental Design Method) Neural Education Logoecology Logosynthesis Creative Action The 'Everest' climb to successive levels of genius Most of this pioneering work has been produced in an industrial, applied research and/or commercial setting, but throughout its process of creation there has always been a desire and intention on the part of its creator that it should be made available to the largest cross section of society - including small children - to assist their own further development, work and play.

Edward Matchett recently described Sophiagenics in the following way:

"The concern of Sophiagenics is the acquiring of Holy Wisdom - God's own Wisdom - and the overcoming of blockages and barriers to this, the principal ones being self-centeredness, intellectual pride, lack of humility, refusal to repent of former wrongs, the desire to veto God and His servants, the insistence on choosing which of God's messages to accept and which to refuse ... The Sophiagenic `5M' discipline is the most powerful means available for accessing Holy Wisdom and dealing successfully with the blockages and barriers. It is a discipline that has to be learned and practiced ... and one that needs much careful attention to perfect. Even when it has been learned and perfected at one level, the learning process must begin again, and again, to keep lifting that level of proficiency higher and yet higher through eleven distinct levels ... until one is truly God centered and loves God with all one's heart, mind, soul and spirit."

Rebuilding the Monastery: a conversation between the Holy Spirit and Edward Matchett

"By identifying the characteristics and qualities that a visitor to a Monastery might recognize as somewhat special. For example, the fellowship and community spirit. The sense of security; the wonderful balance of activities and the balance of work and contemplation."

"Spend much more time considering how to prepare yourself for clothing the basic essence of St. Benedict's Monastery in new form - both external and internal. "

"... the essence of a Monastery - like the essence of the `Dance' and the successful `City' - is transferable to many other entities - including any family or individual life."

"... Benedict's former friends ... beg that he should become their teacher. It was that, and only that, which enabled him to `rebuild the monastery'. First one, then another, soon virtually the entire monastic system - and much besides - to bring in a `golden age' that is now long gone but has to be brought back again ... though in a new form appropriate to the needs of the New Millennium."

"I say again, except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it ... or try to build it."

"So that acquiring the essential character of Christ, became the chief prayer of your heart, thus ensuring that His love permeated your entire being."

"Prayer for the constant experiencing of the presence of Christ should be the chief prayer of everyone."

"While Benedict lived, there was a huge amount of creative action within, and associated with, the monasteries that he founded or revitalized. It surged out beyond them, even into national and international politics, into the creating of new forms of government, town planning and construction, farming, ecology and ways of living at all levels of society."
