Vitamin Industry's 'Founding Father' Touts New Product

It's been a few years since James W. Ingoldsby has enjoyed long talks about people and the way they eat with his good friend, the late Adelle Davis. But in that time he and his son Douglas have brought to market an idea for which they credit Davis. "She felt that since vitamins come from food, they should be in food form, not tablets," Ingoldsby said.

Ingoldsby has been described as the founding father of the vitamin industry in America. He built his company, Plus+Products, into one of the top three vitamin makers in America. Along the way, he also invented Instant Breakfast, Tiger's Milk Protein Powder, and the Tiger's Milk candy bar line. Ingoldsby said he feels a major selling point to his new product and why it's superior, is the fact some of the vitamins are in time-release form and, the minerals are chelated, that is, they are bonded to an absorbable protein which increases the rate of their absorption. He noted that chelating, "oddly enough," also diminished the notorious un-food-like-taste of minerals. Similar, previous products, he said, attempted to conceal the strong mineral taste with strong flavorings. "Our product is tasteless. It has no sugars or sweeteners, no preservatives, fillers, binders, or artificial colors."
