pressure and is often referred to as acupuncture without needles. The
Shiatsu therapist uses traditional oriental diagnosis and acupressure
to balance the energy pathways of the body.
California College of Ayurveda
is the first state-approved college for the study of Ayurveda in the United
States. CCA's extensive two-year program provides 500 hours of classroom
education/clinical internship and an additional 250 hours of independent
study. A student graduates as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist with
an optional specialization as a Pancha Karma Specialist. Combining
classroom education with independent study, the program culminates in
a supervised six-month clinical internship in the student's home community
or at CCA's healthcare clinic. Classes are held in northern and southern
California and meet one three-day weekend each month for eighteen months
followed by the six-month internship. CCA is recognized by Ayurved Shikshan
Mandal, Pune´, India and the American Institute of Vedic Studies, New
